The National Suicide Prevention Alliance National Conference

The National Suicide Prevention Alliance (NSPA) is an alliance of public, private and voluntary organisations in England who collaborate to help reduce suicide and support those bereaved or affected by suicide.
Dr. Sharon McDonnell presented her work to health professionals at South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust at their Patient Safety Learning Event.
Support after a suicide: Developing and delivering local bereavement support services

The steps and processes in this section have been drawn from the practices of existing suicide postvention support services in England, with input from organisations delivering support services and from people bereaved or affected by suicide.
This one day event is hosted by the IWG for Death, Dying and Bereavement and co hosted by members from Scotland, Wales and Ireland and is being supported by the Scottish Government.
Those bereaved or affected by suicide always outnumber the deceased and are also at increased risk of suicide. Despite this little is known about the impact of suicide in the UK and how to best support the bereaved.
