About This Blog

  • This blog is not a support network for those bereaved by suicide.
  • If you are in crisis and struggling to cope please contact either your GP or the Samaritans on 116 123 (UK).  You can also email the Samaritans (jo@Samaritans.org) or visit a local branch.

The Purpose of My Blog

My blog will be used as a platform to help advance understanding of the experiences and needs for those bereaved or affected by suicide, and those responsible for their care.  The ultimate aim of the blog is as follows:

  1.  To share my knowledge and expertise, to help advance understanding in this newly developing field;
  2. To help enable others to understand and not fear, coming into contact with those bereaved or affected by suicide;
  3. To update you on the progress of my research and share key  developments and/or documents, that I perceive will influence policy and practice in this field; and
  4. To create opportunities where we can debate and explore issues surrounding suicide bereavement.  Ultimately, learn from one another.

It is important to note that I am a researcher who has been bereaved by suicide.  However, I am not a clinician and so I am not in a position to offer advice or support to anyone that responds to my posts.
